I view treating the body with Manual Therapy according to 3 interactive systems, a triad of sorts. The systems are the Cranial (cranium, sacrum, dural, brain), Structural, (spine, ribs, pelvis, extremities) and Visceral (thoracic, abdominal, and pelvic organs) systems. These 3 systems communicate with each other and are often necessary to treat in patients with long standing pain.
There are 5 educational tracts. Each class is limited to 12-14 participants to maximize hands on learning. The classes emphasize hands on evaluation and treatment skills that can be taken back into the clinic following the class. Classes are generally on the weekends. Classes that are the first in a specific tract run from 6:00-9:00 pm on Friday night and then from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The following classes in a tract are Saturday and Sunday only from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Classes in a tract must be taken in order. Each class in a specific tract is designed to build on the previous classes within the tract. As such, no participant may take a “higher level” class without taking the previous classes in the tract. This results in an expansion of knowledge, palpation, and skill over time, as the higher the level the class, the more skill is required. It also protects all of the participants in the class.
Each tract will end with a day of written and practical exams. At the successful completion of the exams, you will be certified by the Fulcrum Institute LLC. The completion of a tract will provide you with the necessary skills to effect profound changes within your patients.
An overview of relevant anatomy will be included in the classes but it is highly encouraged that participants take time to study anatomy on their own. A working knowledge of anatomy is the basis upon which these techniques work.
